Everywhere I turn....
You know it amazes me how no matter where I turn, or where I look there is always something about facebook. When I watch tv and ads begin to roll, at least 2 out of 3 tell you to look them up on facebook. Another would have to be when I am looking at a flyer or business card, in some corner you will find the facebook symbol. I do not know if this is a good or bad thing that facebook has taken over like this. No matter where you turn there is something about facebook or how you can find that company on the site. Has facebook really helped advertisement?
Something I do not like about FB is........
I do not like how people will somehow find a way to get into everyones business. It really bothers me that there are people that actually sit at their computers an reads every page they come across like it is something new. Its like they have nothing else to so but sit on their ass's all day long. There isnt much to look at besides pictures ( which 9 times out of 10 they have seen a million times already) and status updates. So there is no reason for someone to be sitting and reading everyones profile, just trying to find something about them and their business. Other than that nothing else really bothers me about facebook. It really is becoming a waste of time.
What makes writing hard?
I have always like writing, ever since elementary school. Well let me rephrase that, I have always loved writing when it is about a topic that I like. It is so much easier to write a five page plus paper when the topic is a good one. It gets really hard when the topic is about something you either do not like, no nothing about, or just do not care about it. For me when I get put into situations where I have to write a paper on something that I am not a fan of, I try to find something about it that interest me. It could be something positive or negative, either way I have found something about a boring topic that I like. Now all I do is put my focus on that and the writing becomes easier because I am more focused. Then again this is something that works for me, it may be different for other people.
Today Im Feeling......
You know today I am actually feeling okay compared to last night. I mean I love man, but I just dont know how he really feels sometimes. I know he loves me, but showing it just isnt his thing. So you can imagine the tears that hit my pillow last night. Although I cried last night I feel so much better today. Its a beautiful day outside, Im focused on my work ( now that it is the end of the semester lol) Im just relaxed and that is a good thing. Nobody needs to be stressed over anything. I really like this feeling. :-)
Better than FB?
I have been wondering if someone will create something that would be better than FB. Is there anything left to come up with in the social networking world? Is there something that can be created that will grab FB users' away from the number one site in the world? Im not going to lie it would be nice to have something new. A new fad that would sweep the nation would be a nice change. It would give people another way, a new way to communicate again with each other. The only problem is trying to figure out if there is anything left to come up with. Has FB taken all of the ideas and mastered them? I guess we will not find out unless someone does come up with a new site that could out do or compete with FB.
Playing Catch Up......
Ok so it is well known that this blog thing has not been my friend this semester, but that is ok. Even though I know I have major points taken off I am still going to post a lot of blogs from now until the day I turn in my portfolio. I figure something is better than nothing. So here it goes.......

Facebook Effect #1
I started reading the Facebook Effect book last month and I will have to say I was very surprised. It was better than I had expected, and I wanted to keep reading it. Yea I know the person who hates Facebook is saying they actually like reading the book. Lol. To start out, I was very impressed with Parker's role in helping bring Facebook to what it is today. When you look at the movie, and how he was portrayed, you wouldnt think that he actually did any good. Even after being kicked out of Facebook he never stopped helping Zuckerburg and the company. I found that to be true commitment.
To me it doesnt matter what someones past is, as long as they are willing to put forth the effort needed to complete their job. Parker had a bad reputation and I feel like that ended up hurting him in the long run. He was judged from the beginning by many. Yea he was in the wrong when he was caught with the drugs and under aged girls. Although one has to wonder, would he have been kicked out or given another chance if he didnt have such a bad rep?

Just a thought....
You know I can honestly say that I am not motivated for this class. It may have to do with the fact that it is all about Facebook and I cant stand Facebook anymore. All I know is that I am having a hard time focusing, and thats not good. I think if the class focused on Facebook but wasnt totally all about it , then maybe it would be better ( for the people who are like me, who have been on Facebook since 2004-2005 and are simply just tired of it and Twitter ----although Twitter is kind of new) I need to find a balance of positive and negative things as far as FB goes so that I will be able to participate more, gain interest in the class, or just simply focus better.
Ads
Most of the ads that are on my page are all pretty much about the same things, college and food! Since I use to attend University of North Carolina at Charlotte, a lot of the ads deal with the many food and beverage locations on campus. For example there is one that talks about Starbucks Coffee and how you can get $15 worth for helping the UNCC Research out. Another ad is the a Valentine walmart gift card. I find this one interesting considering no where do I have that I am in a relationship, so why would I be bothered with a gift card for Valentines Day? ( although I am in a relationship) Although I do visit the walmart website just to browse through the mirrors and kitchen ware. Lastly this ad have absolutely nothing to do with me, it is about rosettastone. ( you know the learn a new language cd thingy) I cant even begin to try and explain why I have an ad on my page about learning a new language because as far as im am sure I have not typed of searched for a new language. Its it is all interesting, im not going to say very, but it is interesting as to what ads are put on your page and why.

I found this particular image to be very interesting in the sense that in today's day and age not too many people tend to go to the doctor. With the Internet being the major source of information now, and with its easy accessibility people feel like they are capable of figuring out what is wrong with them on their own. This photo shows just that, how before going to the doctor he went on the Internet and searched for his symptoms and came up with a diagnoses for himself.
The really sad part about it is that I have family members that will do exactly that instead of going to the doctor to begin with. They say that why should they waste their time and money sitting in a doctors office to only have the doctors tell or confirm what they already knew or figured out. They main problem with this issue is that although the Internet is a great source of information, it also holds a lot of incorrect and out of date information as well. Many people, especially older people who do not have the full research knowledge of how to make sure that what they are looking at is new or updated, tend to misdiagnose themselves. Once they have made the commitment to that self diagnoses the probability of them going to the doctor to get a second opinion (like in the photo) or at all is very slim. Some people just do not realize that although the Internet is there to help and educate, it can also put you and your health at risk.
Studies have shown that many of the people that do the self diagnoses and end up misdiagnosing themselves tend to do more harm to themselves than good. What I mean by saying that is that someone can come up with their problem and find the "cure" online, but when it is the wrong diagnoses and they try to treat it themselves, it could cause more problems. By the time that they do go to the doctor it is normally too late to stop the problem. ( This is just an example for the extreme cases)
#1
I will have to say that I have not blogged in quite some time so this is going to take some getting use to again. I had to create this blog for one of my art classes back at UNCC, so I still have a few of my projects up here. Although im not sure if im looking forward to being back on facebook but I guess if it is dealing with my grade then I kind of have no choice. :-(
